![]() Today is National Fibromyalgia Awareness Day and today, I started the Fibromyalgia Advisor program through The International Fibromyalgia Coaching Institute. I had my admissions interview with Tami Stacklehouse on May 1st and I was a little star struck. I did get over the awe and talking with her was like talking to an old friend and the conversation was wonderful. I discovered Tami through her amazing podcast last summer, when I was somewhere in my lowest moments: Tami's cheerful, encouraging, and inspiring podcasts helped me start believing in myself and big changes happened last August. After my interview, I felt so positive and ready to celebrate my next achievement: we got Twiggs for dinner and enjoyed our patio and delicious foods. I like to remember my timeline: that I had my admission interview on Friday, May 1, accepted and paid my tuition on May 4th, and started my program on Fibromyalgia Awareness Day. All (or most) milestone days in May!
Today was my first session with my fibromyalgia coach. I was assigned a task before hand, a SMART goal.
Specific Measurable Achievable Realistic Timely I was given an assignment for this upcoming week and be able to report it back in our second session: wellness vision (p.5-6) and a smaller/micro-SMART goal. I want to drink as much water as I was drinking when I was in classes at college, approx. 70 – 80 oz. per day. Water fill my tumbler at 8:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 12:30 p.m., and 2:30 p.m. “I will drink 40 oz. water each day, at 10:30 a.m. & 2:30 p.m.” I feel confident that I can achieve this goal. PRO TIP from my coach Journaling and taking a little bit of time to reflect after a session. I chose a walk with Miley. We went in the trails; I was curious to know if there was trilliums growing or in bloom yet. Miley and I found a patch of trilliums almost ready to bloom. I had my “ah, spring is really here” moment, I heard then saw my first bumble bee. I found my peace in my walk. *Spirituality in Nature* In my session, I told my coach out how I've lost my spirituality since 2015, and she mentioned that it didn't necessarily needed to be religious but could be in other forms, and I feel that I could find this in nature. |
